Worpswede Windmill in Worpswede
image author: city-map Osterholz
The Worpswede Mill is again functional
There was a windmill since the beginning of the 18th century. The Galerie-Holländer was built in 1838 after the first post-mill, which has been preserved until today. The building was vacant after the death of the last miller in 1984 and threatened to disintegrate.
The club "Freunde Worpswedes e.V." took care of the mill. The main concern was to rescue one of the last functional mills of the region, the landmark of the village. With the help pf the community and district the building was restored inside and out.
As witness of an early industrial time, the windmill will in future be open to the public.
