Palace Hohehorst in Löhnhorst near Schwanewede
image author: Gemeinde Schwanewede
The Palace Hohehorst has a special place in the history of Löhnhorst.
The former Palace Hohehorst was built in the English style in the year 1869. Ca 60 years later after the derelict building was pulled down, the present 'manor', a palace with 107 rooms and 12 bathrooms was built.
In the following years Hohhorst changed hands often. Since 1981 the "Verein Drogenhilfe e.V." is the leaseholder of the estate. Up to 60 patients in a time frame of up to 10 months are being treated.
The park with its lakes is open to the public; the manor house as well as the other buildings is unfortunately closed to the public.
